Guidelines for Applicants

Every application submitted to the Congregational & General Charitable Trust is given due consideration and applications are especially welcomed from:

  • Churches and charities of the United Reformed and Congregational denominations and other Protestant churches.
  • Charities with a local connection i.e. in Bradford or nearby areas of Yorkshire.
  • Overseas charities, which are based in the UK and can demonstrate their experience in monitoring and evaluating overseas projects.
  • Community projects seeking funding towards their capital costs - agreed grants are not normally paid until the project has the resources promised to enable the work to be completed.
  • Bursaries for theological education which might be given for a fixed number of years.
Currently the minimum grant given is £500 and the maximum £7,500 to any one cause. The amount of money given to the Trust from the insurance company is dependent upon the profits the Company makes and will vary from year to year.
