Carlo Cavaliere - Managing Director

After attending St Bede's Grammar School in Bradford, Carlo gained an Honours degree in Economics and Business Management from Trinity & All Saints College. On graduation, he worked for a large insurance company in the North West of England, before joining Congregational & General plc in 1993. Over the years, Carlo has held various development and management positions within the company. Appointed a director in 2003 he became Managing Director of Congregational & General Insurance plc two years later. Born and raised in Bradford, Carlo now lives in Leeds with his wife, Louise, and their two young daughters.

Martin Scott - Technical Director

Since starting his Insurance career in 1979, Martin achieved ACII qualification in 1987 and gained Chartered Insurer status in 1996. Progressing through a variety of claims and underwriting roles, he joined the company in 1993 as Underwriting Manager and was promoted to Technical Director in 2003. During that time, Martin has played a leading role in the development of EDI business and has a keen interest in the use of technology in the industry. He also has specific full P&L responsibility for the Household account at Board level. Married to Ann, he lives in Baildon, West Yorkshire.

Maria Bell - Head of Finance

After graduating from the University of East Anglia in 1995, Maria began her career in internal audit working initially in the public sector and then moving into Financial Services in 1996. Maria joined Congregational in 1998 as Financial Accountant and in 2001 qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. Today she is Head of Finance with responsibility for the Finance and Facilities departments. Maria plays an integral part within compliance and risk management, including overall responsibility for Health & Safety. Maria lives in the Bradford area with her husband Nigel. In their leisure time, they both enjoy gardening, listening to music and going to concerts.

Julia Shaw - Church Business Manager

Julia started her career as a commercial insurance underwriter at Sun Alliance before moving on to the Prudential and then to the Congregational in 1992. Today she is Church Business Manager with overall responsibility for church insurance. Julia was born in Northampton but moved to Yorkshire as a young girl. She now lives with her husband in an old cottage in a village on the edge of the Bradford area. When not at work she enjoys gardening, listening to music, swimming and generally socialising with friends and family.

Margaret Slater - Marketing Manager

Margaret gained an Honours degree in Communication Arts & Media in 1982 and began her career as a marketing researcher/planner in advertising agencies in Leeds. She became a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing having completed the final examinations in 1985. Margaret has held a number of senior marketing and sales roles within a variety of market sectors including Health Care, Medical equipment, Consumer durables, Retail, Textiles and Communications. Today Margaret heads up the Marketing department and brings a breadth of management experience to the role. She lives in Ilkley with husband Jeremy and daughter Rachel.

Matt Wood - Head of Business Operations

Having graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with an Honours degree in Business Information Technology, Matt began his career at Siemens before joining Congregational as IT Manager in 1999. Since then he has taken a wider role in the company, becoming Head of Business Operations. Matt grew up in Yorkshire, is married to Joanna and has two children, Benjamin and Amelia. In his spare time, he is a keen squash player involved in running his local squash club in Otley and plays in both the Harrogate and Yorkshire leagues.
