Managing Flood Risks-Advice to Churches

06 December 2019

The recent adverse weather and increase in rainfall raises the risk of flooding occuring. Although many churches are not susceptible to flooding, a full risk assessment will need to be carried out. Researching the history of the building and surrounding areas and mapping the locality of rivers, lake and other water sources, will help to indicate the probability of such risk.

Once an assessment is complete it is important that preventative measures are then put in place to limit damage. For further information on protecting your church from flooding, please visit
